Soooo for my 27th birthday I really wanted to make it special, ya know to celebrate living another year and making changes in my life to prioritize my healing and overall happiness. I’m not going to lie, this trip was hard. I felt lots of big feelings. I felt lonely, I felt hopeful, I felt overwhelmed, I felt joyous, I felt everything in such a big way because just weeks prior I asked for a divorce. Less than three weeks prior to be exact. I was in the process of ending an almost 9 year relationship with the man I was with from when I was 18 on, the man I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with. This was my first long trip alone in my entire adult life other than when I travel for work, small weekend trips, or the one time I went to LA for a week by myself at 19…
If you know me in real life, I am the queen of oversharing. Being a boudoir photographer for 9 years, you learn to be vulnerable, candid and extremely forthcoming with information because in my mind, why would I expect my clients to be vulnerable and put their trust in me if I cannot do the same with them? Anyway, I hope that sharing my travels on this blog in a slightly more forthcoming way is helpful to someone or even lots of someones! What I share from my trips on instagram is not necessarily more curated but it is a smidge less info regarding my relationship status, my housing status, where my dogs are, etc. But this blog will dive more deeply into those aspects of my life.
No one, and I repeat: no one is entitled to know anything about my life or anyone’s life for that matter. BUT, I’m choosing to share these things about me – if you follow me on IG and have ever asked me a super personal question, there’s a 99% chance I’ve answered it without a second thought. I am comfortable sharing these things at this point in time because I’ve been on a beautiful healing journey for the last 9+ months and I’m incredibly proud of myself. Soooooo, anyway – easiest way to enjoy the SLC trip is to go to my IG and click the Utah highlight. I’ve held off on publishing this post for way too long because it seemed very daunting (since it was the first trip after asking for a divorce, ya know?)
My plan was to take all of my own photos with my tripod and phone as a remote shutter, BUT my travel companion is a super talented film maker + photographer sooooo he ended up taking most of my photos. I couldn’t be more obsessed with how they turned out.
The dress was originally a bit more modest with cups in the chest and a less intense slit up the side, I quickly remedied that, don’t worry.
THE DRESS – bought it in a size 10 and it fit true to size, even a bit loose after removing the cups. I normally wear a medium in dresses btw.
If you want to see more photos + videos from the trip click the Utah highlight on my IG: Instagram.com/LindseyLay_
Love ya lots,
Lindsey
