So this is not the most exciting trip but it was an adventure nonetheless! The only two times I’ve been in London is for super long 20-24 hour layovers when flying from Europe back home to the US. This time since I had a companion I felt like exploring more! We got into LHR (airport) at 9:30pm took a cab to the hotel that was about half a mile away, checked into the hotel got upgraded to a suite and popped into Cast Iron Grill which was their fancy shmancy hotel steakhouse. Dude, it was SO good! The guy in the photo below’s birthday was two days after we landed in London so to finish off his birthday trip we decided to splurge! Well worth it! The staff was so so sweet to us, they stayed open late and didn’t rush us in the slightest. Don’t worry, we tipped well – per usual! Anywayyyyy, after we ate we went to the suite and planned our next day – our flight wasn’t until early evening so we had the whole day to do whatever!
Enter: Camden Town! Here are some cool things to do in this cute little town.
Our driver was awesome and gave us tips about which railway to take for the best experience as well as the most efficiency. As we know, google maps doesn’t always know *everything* but locals do 😉 Anyway, a total of an hour later we were walking from the train station to Camden Town and ready to shop and eat all of the foods! Camden Town was hella cool, we shopped at vintage stores that were underground, there were tons of stores that specialized in making leather bags, the boy picked out two really pretty rings to add to my daily wearing ring stacks and we found him the most badass vintage coat, handmade necklace and turtleneck! Overall a very successful trip!
Hotel: Sheraton Heathrow – I’ve stayed here twice now and absolutely love it! They’re so accommodating, the rooms are nice, beds super comfy, and the lounge is great!
Hotel tips:
-Book through the hotel site directly! They prioritize upgrades to people who book through them directly annnnd you can always call to get the best rate letting them know that booking.com or Expedia has rates lower (do this in a sweet way, don’t be a dick, obviously).
-Try to be loyal to one hotel chain if possible so you can earn points and overall status (you’ll receive additional points at check in, free breakfast when typically charged, free room upgrades, free nights, access to the lounge with breakfast, snacks, drinks, etc).
-I have the Marriott AmEx credit card, I do pay a big fee every year but it includes so much! Instead of me typing out all of the things I’ll just link it. When you’re looking at credit cards for travel you want to weigh the benefits YOU care about! I stay at a lot of Marriotts so having the 25 elite nights added to my total helps me get to Titanium Elite status fairly quickly and giving me some pretty cool benefits when checking in/staying. It also covers my priority pass membership, global entry, TSA pre-check, and gets me 21x the points with each stay. I didn’t pay for 2 weeks of luxury hotel stays for my 4 week Scotland trip and that’s just because of the points I racked up using my card! Highly recommend!
Here’s my referral link and the exact credit card I use, you can earn extra points by using it and ya girl earns points by you signing up! We love a win/win situation.
Help this was super fun to look at and possibly helpful ish! I honestly don’t know what I want to do with this blog, there is so so so much info out there already so at this point I’m sharing tiny tips and sharing the cool pictures and videos I’ve taken and that’s the extent of things. Sooooo, enjoy!
Love ya lots,
Lindsey
