Hey besties, here’s a little week 1 recap – mostly financials and logistical stuff because you can so easily google pretty pictures and find cute cafes on google maps. This is the shit people don’t breakdown!
Let me make a quick disclaimer! We are NOT budget travelers and the below numbers are for TWO adults who prioritize convenience and experiences. We keep our big costs pretty low and splurge on good food, good 🍃 (legal here) and experiences/activities! I make at least half of our meals at home because 1. I like to cook and 2. convenience sake – it’s quicker for me to cook what I want to eat than wait 30-40 min for delivery.
Week 1:
You know the first week, hell the first month when you move somewhere it’s more expensive than the rest of the time because you’re getting the necessities and cute stuff you want to decorate with to create a home.
Bigger Purchases + Info:
Plane tickets, upgraded seats + extra luggage allowance: $1,539.60
Apartment (rent is different each month because of low/high tourist season but it averages to $757 per month and this includes: wifi, electric, water, full gym, fitness + yoga classes, sauna, pool, weekly full cleaning + sheets/towel changes, 24/7 security + private covered parking.
Scooter rental: $150 monthly
Water Delivery (tap water is NOT safe to drink here): about $20 per month
Pretty things + necessities for our apartment: $173
As you can see the daily average for our first week is almost $65 which is (hopefully) way higher than it will be from here on out! This doesn’t factor our plane tickets or rent into the daily average but it does for everything else (scooter, water, food, grocery shopping, etc).
For the first week we spent a total of $711.44 excluding our plane tickets and rent.
