We had a small gap in our travel schedule between Greece and The Netherlands so we decided to pop over to Antwerp Belgium for a few days! Before I really get into anything in the post, I have to tell you that Brussels (about 30 min south of Antwerp) is my least favorite city in the world. 0/10 would recommend. BUT Antwerp, that’s a whole different story – I’d not only go back there but I’d consider living there!!
Antwerp is artsy, it’s eclectic, and it’s clean. I had a blast walking, taking the trams and buses – never a bad experience. Corey and I did something we had never done – stayed with a host while in a city. We met Antoine who is from Holland but lives in Antwerp, he’s a producer, DJ, photographer and all around cool dude. His home was historic and unique, staying with someone else wasn’t my cup of tea but he was a great host and made it an enjoyable experience.
The 4 days in Antwerp were meant for us to explore Belgium and to drink our way through all of the Belgium beers that are hella expensive to get in the states that Corey has wanted to try! Needless to say, there was a lot of day drinking going on. We swore off beer and alcohol in general for quite a while after this experience.
2 weeks in Brussels was kind of lackluster other than visiting a modern art museum, the Atomium, and Cantillon! We used our time in Brussels as a way to visit other countries nearby and have it be our home base for a couple weeks.
